TCP has an immediate opening for one (1) temporary full-time Veterinary Technician to start in February 2019.  Reporting to the Supervisor, Technical Services and as a key member of the Facility Operations Team, the incumbent will support research projects by providing specialized technical and clinical services.  Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) providing skilled technical assistance, training, quality assurance, and above all ensuring the health and welfare of the research animals.  The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with research staff and fellow team members and maintain detailed project records.  The work is conducted in a highly regulated environment according to standard operating procedures.

 

The successful candidate must be a graduate of a Veterinary Technician program and be certified as a Registered Laboratory Animal Technician (CALAS).  Preference will be given to applicants who have 3-5 years experience in a research setting and are proficient with rodent surgery and technical skills. A good understanding of CCAC guidelines and OMAFRA regulations is required.  Applicants require excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and will be expected to maintain a professional attitude.
