The University of Waterloo Central Animal Facility is seeking candidates for on-going casual on-call positions for weekday shifts during busy periods and staff vacations. The time commitment varies and would complement our current roster. You must be available for mornings (4-5 hrs), occasionally 7 hour shifts may be offered.

Some weekend shifts-4-5 hours Saturday, Sunday and Statutory holidays would be also available.

Candidates must have previous experience providing husbandry and care to lab animals, relevant professional training would be an asset. Duties would include conducting visual inspections and checking the health status of all animals (mice, rats, rabbits) in our facilities, completing daily room status reports, changing cages, cage wash duties and preparing cages and bottles for next day use. Candidates will be provided with training and will be required to complete additional courses offered by the Safety Office.

The rate of pay is $20.36 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
